The biggest connection I have wit any asian culture is that I like chinese take out and I LOVE SUSHI!!!!! I just recently started packing my own bentos. =]. So, now I want to take another step into the culture and get into anime / manga. I haven't played video games in 6years and I know absolutely nothing about anime. Please help.|||Read it. Watch it. That's really all you have to do.
Some ones that I like are:

Bleach (anime and manga, but skip the anime bount arc)
Full Metal Alchemest
DN Angel
Fruits Basket
Generator Gawl
Most Studio Ghibli movies
Gundam Wing
Trigun

There's also Death Note, which is popular, there's manga, anime and some live action movies of it. Oh, and Cowboy BeBop.

There's also a lot of places online where you can download english subbed versions of the anime in Japanese (which is usually better) for free. A good thing to do is to look for anime and manga that incorperates things that you like. If you like lots of battles, watch Bleach or Naruto. If you like love stories watch DN Angel, if you like both, Full Metal Alchemist.

Anyways, I hope that helps.|||just learn the language and stay away from anime! that stuff is wierd!|||dont get into it... its adictve.. you are gonna spend all your money and you are not gonna have friends... dont try|||Tired of searching for anime? www.AnimeThat.com|||You can start by watching the sci-fi channel on Monday night. Check your tv listings, because its called animonday. That varies in different time due to time zones. I recommend watching one of the best animes ever made, Street fighter 2 the animated movie. Be sure to stay away from the Jean claude van dam American version or there cartoons. It must be Manga.|||if you want an anime which will make you addictive to anime shows, then watch Death Note, you'll become addictive, and you'll learn some Japanese words like me, lol.. :)|||Well first if you have a friend who likes Anime/Manga then i suggest ask her/him to borrow or recommend things.

For Manga books I recommend Vampire Knight, I.N.V.U,Alice 19th, and Fruits Basket. (Oh there are soo many). You can also go to a bookstore (Boarders is my favorite) and pick up a manga and read it there.

Some shows Inuyasha,Fruits Basket,Death Note, and Full Metal Alchemist.(once again i can name more)|||The ones I first saw are still my favorites. I tend to try and watch the anime movies more than the series since watching a series will make you want to have all the episodes and they often have 20 + and you have to pay for each sepearately or sometimes several episodes are on 1 tape or DVD but it's still expensive. Some are short like Project A-k 1-3. I heard there was a spin off or alternate universe OVAs of it or something but I haven't seen it yet. Devil Hunter Yoko, Genocyber, Iczer 1, Battle Angel, The Guyver, Mermaids Scar, Blood Reign, Akira, Wicked City (there's also a live action movie, but it's not as good as the anime imo) Poltergeist Report, Doomed Megalopolis, Vampire Princess Miyu, The Outsiders, Crying Freeman, Vampire Hunter D, 3x3 eyes, Demon City, Mermaid Scroll, The Slayers, Ninja Scroll, Record of Lodos War, Cowboy Beebop, Oger Slayer, Armitage, Pet Shop of Horrors, Ghost in the Shell, Angel Cop ... hmmm i'll have to think some more. :) but try www.rightstuf.com, a VERY good site. It has manga and anime movies, complete series, memorabilia, soundtracks etc.|||Be very sure if you want to get into anime, if you really got into it, it will be very hard to get out of it.

But if u r serious, just think of what kind of stories you normally like then from there you can narrow down to the genre of anime that you might like. Try searching the interent for explainations on the different genre available. U'll probably get a list of anime then u can just try watching them online (try in youtube or ITKWTF.com) if its a bother to download.

Or you can just try watching any anime that is shown on T. Check out if anyone is to ur liking and go from there to find other animes.

I seriously believe that there is a anime for everyone. Hope you'll find the anime for you. Gud Luck! :)|||Anime/manga is something that you have to naturally love. Just watch some of the more popular animes and read some of the more popular mangas. If you fall in love with them, explore different anime/manga series. It's the funnest thing ever. If you do not like it, don't bother tryinng to get into it.
