No resturaunts, no pizza delievery, no chinese take out. We have been eating out every night for the last week and a half because of the heat. Now I need to make something without heating up my house! No sandwiches either.... Please any ideas on a good supper without heating up the house.. (Yes we do have air, but once the oven is on you can not tell...)|||You said no sandwiches, but a sub would be satisfying and easy to fix. Easy clean up, too. Hope you get a chance to cool off!|||Eat cold cereal and fruit.|||Salad|||Microwave something.|||Chef salad.|||how about chicken salad or tuna salad or salmon salad or _____salad|||Try having cereal, it's cool and my kids love having it as a treat for dinner instead of breakfast or you can do a big fruit salad|||ice cream!!!

well, umm....healthy, probably salad and lots of fruit...go out for jamba juice!|||Go vegan for a night...it'll cool your body and it'll make you not hungry.|||How about a quiche. It is eggs with milk, bacon, and green peppers with crust on the outside (like a pizza) in a pan. You get crust on bottom and put it in microwave. I don't know anything else cuz i don't cook, but its good.|||ICECREAM|||picnic, sandwich's, subs, fruit, BBQ, anything|||Rarely (not too nutritious), I would plate up a bowl of Vanilla Ice Cream and top it with mixed fresh fruits. You could have cold cuts on the side if needed for the kids.|||BBQ|||put whatever you want to cook outside on a black pan. the heat'll cook it up!|||try some spageti pasta and some smothies (mix milk orange juice and someice cubes in the blender and some vanilla ice cream) and also try some hawian salads or something|||what about burritos? you do not have to heat up the oven for that. just cook some meat on the stove, chop up some lettuce, tomatoes, grate some cheese, and you are good to go. OR, you could make hot dogs and chili (i prefer to make my own, but that takes too long) easy meal, hardly any cook time.|||Salad time! Throw in some ice cold vegies and even cold cuts and cheese.|||Make a good salad and add a can of drained tuna or chicken.
OR
Have breakfast for dinner. We do that often and it is ok.
Or
Have a sundae break
Cut up fruits and marshmallows and chocolate chips and serve ice cream sundaes with whatever toppings they want.
Make a pineapple or banana sandwich|||Go get a cooked chicken from your local grocery store and make a salad with all the toppings and serve together. Healthy, homey and filling... oh and for extra carbs, get a loaf of nice bread to serve(italian or something like it). Get some strawberries and of course some pre made angel food cake for dessert..

This will be a refreshing dinner...hmmm think I might do this myself!|||Got a crockpot????? That's what I'm doing tonight.

Got some sausages, peppers, onions, tabasco sauce and sweet and sour sauce going on in there.. My house is cool..|||how about a nice big salad. have some fruit for dessert. diced watermelon, apples, mango and strawberries with a nice glass of tea.
i think that's what I'll have for dinner!|||You can cook in your microwave as well and it doesn't heat the house up. Outside of salads and sandwiches as I am doing I really don't know. Sorry. ak|||I was going to suggest gazpacho and a cold bean salad, but then I noticed that you have kids, so that might not be such a big hit.

How about this idea: have a dip dinner. Make sure everything you have can be dipped. cut up raw veggies with salad dressings, apples with peanut butter, bread/pitas with hummus, peanut butter, or whatever your kids will like, salami rolled around a pickle that they can dip in mustard, pretzels dipped in cream cheese, whatever. My mom used to do this when I was a kid, and I loved dipping food. You can make it even more fun by letting your kids mix their own dips for things from whatever you have around the house.

I hope you cool off soon!|||Mom, my Mom would make salads in the summertime. Fruit salad, tuna salad, crab salad and macaroni salad. Oh and potato salad.

Fruit salad sounds so GOOD right now!|||how about some little kabobs using cheese cubes/cubed ham/red grapes, etc. A side of cottage cheese and some canned pears? No cooking required!|||Have someone BBQ, which would happen outside of course. Or make a chef salad. Get some turkey, ham, hard-boiled eggs and cut them all up into a bowl of lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers, croutons and your favorite dressing. Grab some french bread and put some butter on it, and you have a filling meal. The meat in the salad fills you up and there's no cooking involved. We don't have AC, only a swamp cooler. When the temp gets over 100, like it has been lately, the swamp cooler is almost useless, so I can't even think about cooking or it'll be 10x's worse. We usually make a chef salad....other nights we make sub sandwiches like they have at Subway.

Oh and if you can boil pasta late at night when it's cooled down, or early morning before it's too hot, do so. Get some rotini pasta noodles, cook them and put them in the fridge for later. Then when you're ready, get some Kilbasa sausage or something similar (brown that in the morning too), frozen broccoli (thawed in the microwave), sliced olives, and some thinly sliced red bell peppers. Mix it all up at night when you're ready for dinner, put your favorite dressing (usually a lite italian is good) and you'll have pasta salad w/out heating up your house.|||Boy do I know the feeling. I am making guacamole tacos and gazpacho for dinner. So easy to make and no heat required! Some cut watermelon for dessert as well. Good luck!|||A GOOD GREEN SALAD WITH THE WORKS IN IT.

HAVE A BREAKFAST DINNER AND GIVE EVERYONE CEREAL AND MILK AND CUT UP SOME HEALTHY FRUITS OR MAYBE VEGGIES AND DIP

IF YOU WILL USE A LITTLE BIT OF HEAT COOK LOTS OF PASTA & BUY A BUNCH OF THESE

http://www.classico.com/html/products/de鈥?/a>

SERVE COLD WITH A LITTLE BIT OF PARMISIAN OR FETA AND MAYBE SOME CUT TOMATOS

OMG IT'S TO DIIIIEEEE FOR!!!! VERY ADDICTING
IF YOU MAKE A BUNCH IT WILL LAST FOR DAYS.

OR TRY USING A CROCK POT AND JUST MAKING CHICKEN BREAST THAT YOU CAN SERVE COLD FOR LUNCH AND DINNER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.|||I would agree with these ideas.|||Go to the store and buy a couple of cans of Chicken Breast meat. (or Ham)
A bottle of your favorite Salad Dressing.
A head of Lettuce, some carrots, tomatoes, etc
A bag of shredded cheese
And some fresh Garlic Bread from the deli/bakery. Or roll up in Flour Tortillas for Wraps

Toss all ingredients (except the bread) together. Enjoy with bread.

For the kids:

Get some Pita bread, jar of pizza sauce and shredded cheese and let them make cold pizza, or pop-it in the microwave.

I also stock up on Chunky Style Soups, and heat them in the mirowave. There are a ton of varieties to choose from.

Try cooking the meals in the mornings and fix everyone's plates, wrap in plastic wrap and store in the fridge or freezer. At mealtime, heat the plates and unwrap and serve. You get a home cooked meal and don't suffer the evening heat.

Or, Place a chunk of meat in a crock pot in the morning, and spices, and simmer on low for 4-8 hours, about two hours before serving, add potatoes and carrots. Turn on high for two hours and serve with dinner rolls.
